FASTING!
I have decided that I'm going to try fasting.  I did a trial run yesterday but I don't know if it was as productive as I wanted it to be.

Now of course this is something that requires careful consideration and depending on your health status you should DEFINITELY check with your medical practitioner.  I found a really good video that does some basic explaining of what the process is about.  I am going to definitely start this next week.  Take a listen.

Also one of my FB friends posted this great pictures that drives the point home about how GREAT eating fruits and veggies can be!

Ive been very busy recently.  Weight is coming off just not as fast as I had hoped but then again I'm taking my time this time.  But it is coming off.  Ive decided to try and change up my routine a bit.  I'm interchanging kettleworx and cardio every other day.  I was walking 3 miles a day for a while but in order for me to reach the goals I set for myself I would have to walk for over an hour.  I have other things planned in my day.  I love walking but I can save that workout for the weekends.  Besides its been cold and rainy here the past week.  Bbbrrr!

I have been good about my eating habits.  I keep the calorie count under 1500 or at the very least 1800.  As a writer its easy to not get so worked up about missing a meal.  It is a bit more of an adventure to figure out how to work a workout routine in the schedule.  But I manage.  This weekend I am going to the movies with my husband and I think I now have enough discipline to forego the raisinettes.  I will have the popcorn and a small soda.  I don't drink soda at all anymore so having one this weekend is kind of a treat or a setback considering your perspective LOL.

I hope that your voyage is going well and that you are able to brag about your weight release victories this past month.  I have decided to make a chart for my progress. You know kind of like a growth chart. I have it in my mind how much I want to weigh by my birthday next year but its another thing to actually see the results written down.    I saw this one and decided I will do it.  Its a visual reminder of what you're doing right or what you're doing wrong.  :(

Also very soon I will be starting a podcast on releasing the pounds and speaking to a lot of professionals who have helped many people reach their weight goals.  Like all of you there are days I look forward to working out and I feel highly motivated and other days I have to push myself.  But I suspect that is with anything we choose to do on a consistent basis.  The best thing you can do is write about it.  Whether it's a blog or a journal or a notebook or however you chart your progress and your feelings. It is a good idea and it will help you through the times you feel you are struggling.  Until next time!

Hey all just a brief update.  I have lost some fat according to my scale!  Yea for me!

I'm now down to 32% body fat and 194 lbs.  I'm very happy but I still have five more pounds to go to meet my goal for April.  I WILL succeed!

I have just started to amp up my workout with Kettleworx.  The first day I was so sore.  The video is 20 mins long and I could only do ten minutes.  After which my legs felt like wet noodles.  Man I had to sit down LOL.

I met a new friend who has succeed with some of her immediate weight release goals and I thought I would share their story.   She's such a beautiful young woman!  Hear her story.

One day at a Time

Hi all small update.

Still working on the battle of the bulge!  I have released ONE pound LOL.  But its only been five days so that's actually good. I'm walking about five to six miles a day. I do a lot of reading about which exercise helps you burn the most fat.  Or which food helps speeds up the metabolism etc.

But I think in the end you have to do what makes you feel comfortable.  This is a life change not a dress change.  I have come to the conclusion that if I dread doing a thing just to "lose" weight then its not something I'm going to stick with.  I have to enjoy it or I will lose focus and desire.  My goal is to RELEASE THE POUNDS!!

SO for me I have decided to limit my calorie intake and change up my work out routine.  Right now Im only walking but starting next week I'm going to include Yoga.  Yoga is good for the muscles and helps elongate the body giving it a lean look.  And as I'm very short LOL I need all the help I can get.

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step"
__ Lao Tzu

                                And so it begins.

My thousand mile journey started on the 28th of March 2012.  That was the day I decided  to release the excess weight that I've been lugging around for the past few years.

Those of us who weigh more than our ideal weight always dream of the day when we can go into a clothing shop and just buy without consideration of slimming colors, print designs, vertical or horizontal stripes, or God forbid, flowers.

I won't lie to you, this is NOT the first time I've come to this juncture. But I'm guessing that's not a surprise.  Many of us who put on excess weight, try and try and try again to take it off.

I do not shrink from a fight but sometimes you just get tired of struggle and so ultimately, you quit.  And I know I'm not the only one.  But this time I am determined.  This time, I'm going to be smart and patient.  THIS time I'm going to RELEASE the pounds, for good!
Release the pounds?  Yes I said release, not lose.  As has been said so many times before, the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

Well if I'm going to change my mindset to reach my goal, I have to change the terminology.

I say release instead of lose because inherent in the word "lose" is the goal to "find".  I do NOT want to find the pounds I will lose!  Yet for so many of us "finding" is exactly what happens with lost pounds.

In some circles its called yo-yo dieting.  Though its not nearly as much fun as the name might suggest and its certainly not healthy.

The formula for removing excess pounds in theory is quite elegant, scientifically speaking of course.

Less calories + more physical movement = skinny me

That's it.   Simple, and yet....in a galaxy far, far away.   The formula may seem elegant in its design but less calories means...eek ghads, less food.   More physical movement means...dear Lord, getting off my butt and doing something.  Something, dare I say it, that will make me... sweat!  I suppose a good analogy would be, trying to get to an island of pleasure by swimming through a canal filled with crocodiles.

Can't I just say I did and move on?  Of course the answer is a resounding HELL NO!   So...I've decided to say good bye to all my super size clothes and DEsupersize my body!  And... I'm asking that you take this journey with me to DEsupersize your  own body.

Isn't this going to be hard?  Maybe.  All depends on your definition of hard.  Changing some habits in your life is what will be required to make the new body that will make you feel comfortable and proud.  I'm not deluding myself that this will be a breeze but neither will I stress out about eating a sliver of cake or in my case an Almond Joy candy bar.

Being fat, and lets not sugar coat this, being fat is not fun!  It's physically painful, embarrassing, stressful and emotionally draining and worst of all it can kill you!

Life is a gift!  Don't be so flip about throwing it away.  If walking a few miles a day will give you that many more years with the people you love and love you, is that such a high price to pay?  I certainly have no right to become evangelical about this topic.  As I said I'm just as guilty as my fellow fatties for enjoying some seductively great tasting high fat food.  But some of us have gone a cheeseburger too far.

It is said, that when the student is ready the teacher will appear.

Well I may not be a teacher, save to my own wonderful children, but maybe I can be a companion on the journey and sometimes just having a friend to go through such adventures with you is almost as good as having a teacher.

I will be vloging my experience and podcasting my journey with people who have positive information to help us along the way.  I will be posting the links for my podcasts and my videos here on my blog.  I encourage you to email me with your own stories or share your videos either here on my blog or on my channel in response to my videos.

And I would LOVE to talk to all of the wonderful people who have already reached their goal weight!  It would be great for those of us still trekking to see what will be our future.  Thanks so much for reading and being a part of this experience.  We WILL release the pounds!

FYI:
To show that I do have some fortitude and determination it has been almost two years since I have quit smoking.  Cold turkey I might add.  I just decided I had had enough and quit without ever looking back.  I will do the same thing with releasing the pounds.   The key is keeping your mind busy so that the body forgets what its been conditioned to want.

Ok...so here we go.   This is me from the neck down!

Below is my current weight.   Naturally I will update this when I have news to report.   All words of encouragement are appreciated!  Thank you for being here!
